What's going on (and what's not) with Donna's ongoing pursuit of creative expression.
It's no secret
When you look through ads for homes, properties, automobiles, or other items for sale, if you’re like me, the first thing you look for is the price. For many of us, that will ultimately be the determining factor on whether or not we make the purchase. And whenever I see something for sale that doesn’t give me the price up front, my automatic assumption is that the price must be too high to make public, so I move on to other providers.
Many artists, photographers and freelance designers tend to refrain from publishing their pricing plans simply because they don’t want competitors to see and then attempt to undercut them. Others consider themselves just plain too sophisticated for such common practices. And still others are under contract with agents, galleries, etc. and are not really free to publish pricing without specific permission.
Well, as for me, I don’t have an agent, I’m not under contract with any galleries or groups, and I’m CERTAINLY not sophisticated – not yet anyway. As for being afraid of being undercut by the competition, that’s not really a concern either. I figure you either like their work and buy it, or you like mine and buy it – or you like BOTH and BUY both!
In browsing other artists' and photographers' sites, as well as sites that print and/or sell Giclee prints, pricing runs the entire gamut between dirt cheap to outrageous. I'd like to keep my pricing somewhere in-between the two extremes so the art will be accessible to more people, though prices will likely be going up noticeably after December 31, 2005.
PLEASE NOTE:
I won't begin processing orders until October 1, 2005, but if you're interested in ordering any prints, feel free to send any orders to artworkbydonna@yahoo.com anytime.
